New Publication Analyses Just Transition Policy Priorities, Role for Employers and Governments

Explore recent developments in just transition international activities and policy priorities for employers with our latest policy review.

IOE with support from the European Union has released a new policy review on just transition policies with a particular focus on employers’ priorities and the roles of governments and employer and business associations. Building on previous reports and analysis on the just transition agenda, this publication (available in the "Resources" section) examines recent developments and effective policies for supporting and enabling business action.

The review highlights the critical role of governments, important updates from UNFCCC and ILO negotiations and provides insights on how employers and governments can work together for an effective transition.

While governments have to provide an enabling environment and avoid different risks from poorly designed policies, employers can play a leading role in creating new business opportunities, markets and competitive advantages in different national contexts. Employers’ organisations can support their members to keep pace with policy and regulatory advancements and ensure companies have increased capacity and awareness to take on transition challenges while closely working with governments on short and medium term plans.
