VI Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights for Latin America and the Caribbean

Join this major regional event on business and human rights to bring the business voice to the discussions.

The VI Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) will be held virtually from 4 October to 6 October 2021, under the theme “Building the business and human rights agenda for the next decade”. The Office in Mexico of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations have organized this VI Forum with the support of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union.

The LAC Forum builds on the work IOE and its partners have been engaged in on effectively implementing the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Please see more information on our work in this area here. The forum represents a great opportunity for members in the region to be part of the reflections on pending challenges and ways forward.

Members from Latin America and the Caribbean are invited to join two business-led side sessions (with English and Spanish language interpretation):

  • 4 October 2021 - Business caucus side event - This session, for business participants only, offers a safe space to be informed and discuss important trends and developments on business and human rights impacting the region. It gives the possibility for networking and connects practitioners, businesses, and federation representatives (please register here: https://bit.ly/2Yw1KZT)

  • 6 October 2021 – How to get started: building capacity on human rights, due diligence and access to remedy - The aim of this session is to share further knowledge and understanding on how to get started in implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, understand current developments and trends influencing the Business and Human Rights Agenda, and review the plans of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights to strengthen the uptake of the UN Guiding Principles (please register here https://bit.ly/3jN1mhJ).
