IOE End to Child Labour Peer Learning Event

On October 6, 13:30 - 15:00 CET, IOE invites its members to a peer learning session for the elimination of child labour.

IOE, the largest network or private sector with more than 150 employers’ organisations, is empowering employers’ organisations from the pathfinder countries to go further and faster in achieving SDG Target 8.7, to eliminate child labour by 2025.

IOE has members in the 22 pathfinder countries: Albania, Cameroon, Chile, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uganda and Vietnam.

These countries have committed to:

• Develop, adopt and put into practice improved legislation, national action plans or policies on child labour, forced labour, modern slavery and/or human trafficking
• Translate public commitments into concrete actions after having signed the Call to Action to End Forced Labour, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and/or made a pledge to implement the Buenos Aires Declaration of the IV Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labour (Buenos Aires, 14-16 November 2017) or similar initiatives
• Ratify, or actively work towards the ratification or implementation of, applicable international human rights standards, including international labour standards.

IOE members from the pathfinder countries are invited to share their experiences, thoughts and questions with other countries in an informal exchange of information and to build a strong support network to eliminate child labour once and for all.  

Members will be invited to discuss on three topics

1. Identifying key challenges and opportunities
2. Exchanging success stories and lessons learnt
3. Brainstorming new strategies and future actions
