Call for applications: ILO Technical Meeting on biological hazards guidelines

Location

ILO, Geneva

Employer experts in biological hazards are invited to submit an application by 10 May to join an ILO meeting on this issue.

The ILO is organising a meeting of experts to examine and adopt the Technical Guidelines on Biological Hazards on 20-24 June 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic increased the need for providing guidance on this issue. These technical guidelines, based on ILO standards, guidelines, codes of practice and references to other U.N agencies’ treaties and guiding principles, will allow to understand and manage biological hazards by all stakeholders in the workplace. The outcome of the discussion will also assist the ILO Office in preparing for the International Labour Conference standard-setting discussion on biological hazards in 2024 and 2025.

Eight Employers, eight Workers and Governmental experts will be invited to take part in the elaboration of these guidelines. Their travel and subsistence expenses will be covered by the ILO.

We invite you to submit the application of an Employer expert well-versed in these matters and to return the duly completed candidature form to us before 10 May (please download via the link in the "Resources" section). The selection of participants will be based on the qualifications of the candidates, but also on a fair geographical balance that reflects the IOE's global membership.

In addition to bringing their technical expertise to the debate, the selected Employer delegates will have the opportunity - unique in some cases - to familiarise themselves with the ILO, its working methods and the respective policy positions of employers, workers and governments from around the world.

We look forward to receiving the details of your designated candidate. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Pierre Vincensini (vincensini(at)ioe-emp.com).
