Registration details are now available to attend the 3rd African Business and Human Rights Forum on 8-10 October in Nairobi, Kenya. Online participants will receive a link in due time.  

Under the theme “Promoting Responsible Business Conduct in a Rapidly Changing Context”, the Forum will foster policy dialogue and peer-to-peer learning on responsible business conduct and on the human rights implications of the emerging African and global regulatory and policy landscape in Africa. 

IOE will be leading the business engagement at the Forum and will organise two hybrid and one in-person joint events for employers and companies at the Forum’s venue, the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Gigiri: 

  • On 8 October 2024 from 9:00- 11:30 a.m. EAT (Eastern Africa Time): Joint IOE-UNGC safe-space session for Business and Employers: IOE Business Caucus & UNGC Business Accelerating Action on Human Rights (hybrid event with French/English interpretation) 

  • On 8 October 2024 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EAT (Eastern Africa Time): IOE open Session on “Unlocking BHR Potential: Leveraging Formalisation for Responsible Business Practices (hybrid event in English)” 

  • On 8 October 2024 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm EAT (Eastern Africa Time): In-person IOE – ACCA – UNGC Joint Closed Session: Building Trust & Collective Action: Dialogue Between Business & CSOs to Advance Human Rights (in-person closed event upon invitation only in English).

IOE encourages its entire network - all its Federations, their company members, IOE corporate partners or subsidiaries - to join these events.  

The Forum is convened by the African Union and co-organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights (UNWG).
