2024 HLPF side event: Business Accelerating the 2030 Agenda

In alignment with the theme of the 2024 HLPF, "Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions," the Business and Industry Major Group (BIMG) is organising an engaging side event on Accelerating the 2030 Agenda on Thursday, 11 July, 13:15 - 14:30 (EST) // 19:15 - 20:30 (CEST). The event will delve into the proactive involvement of businesses in increasing access to climate finance, while also enabling and promoting inclusive multilateralism.

This side event aims to showcase how businesses can actively contribute and partner in achieving the SDGs, with a focus on climate and cross-sector participation. Two panel discussions will explore best practices and collaborative approaches to: 1) climate finance, action, and sustainability, and 2) multilateral engagement from diverse stakeholders with a key focus on the Summit of the Future. Both discussions will address how businesses can and are aligning with the key goals of the HLPF. The side event will consist of interactive sessions featuring prominent voices from the business community, governments, SMEs, and international organisations.

As co-lead of the BIMG – one of twenty sectors that participate in UN activities related to sustainable development – IOE is jointly organising this event with the United States Council for International Business (USCIB). The Group recognises the pivotal role that businesses play in the global pursuit of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
